Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is a C-level executive, akin to a Chief Information Officer (CIO). He/she is the key person responsible for ensuring that the organization’s information systems are safe against all internal as well as external threats and potential attacks.

Depending on the size and structure of an organization, the CISO reports to the CIO, the CEO, or the Board of Directors.

In the recent few years, the role of the CISO has significantly gained in importance. The growing complexity of the IT security landscape means that this role will become more and more specialized.
